I’ve struggled with disordered eating and body dysmorphia for more than a decade.
I went through bouts of intense caloric restriction, developed abnormal eating habits, and obsessively weighed and body checked myself for years. It took me a very long time to realize that I was seriously harming myself physically, mentally and emotionally.
The turning point came when my younger sister passed away unexpectedly in early 2013. I was heartbroken, distraught and completely alone in my world of grief. I was desperate for a drastic change in my life but clueless as to what steps to take. As serendipity would have it, I embarked on a whirlwind transformation- I began exercising regularly, started eating proper meals, learned to cook healthy, nourishing foods, saw a psychiatrist and nutritionist, and most importantly, began to embrace and love myself exactly for who I am. Little by little, my body, mind and soul began to heal.
PRETTY BALANCED was born out of my own desire to find a sustainable lifestyle that was healthy, happy and most importantly realistic. I hope this wellness platform empowers and inspires women to find their authentic versions of balanced lifestyles.
